PBAF – Finance & Nature Toolbox

To help financial institutions navigate the growing landscape of biodiversity tools, the Partnership for Biodiversity Accounting Financials (PBAF) developed the Finance & Nature Toolbox—a practical guide mapping which biodiversity data, methods, and standards to use across the investment cycle. Co-created through workshops and expert input from TNFD, UNEP-FI, and others, the Toolbox has already engaged over 100 institutions and informed emerging market alignment. Launched at COP16, it is accelerating credible integration of nature into finance decisions and disclosures, and paving the way for a shared online portal with key global frameworks.

InfoAmazonia: Exposing the Hidden Costs of Amazon Oil

Through the Every Last Drop investigative series, InfoAmazonia exposed the environmental and social risks of oil exploration at the mouth of the Amazon. The project produced six cross-border investigations—published in three languages and syndicated across 28 outlets in Brazil, Peru, Colombia, and Ecuador—garnering over 90 republications and wide national and international coverage. By documenting corporate impacts and amplifying local voices, the work is shaping public debate on extractive expansion in the Amazon. Its forthcoming advocacy report and book will be launched ahead of COP30 to drive accountability among governments, investors, and oil companies operating in the region.

AFREWATCH – Exposing Hidden Harms of Cobalt Mining

Building on earlier research with RAID that exposed severe water contamination from cobalt mining in the DRC, AFREWATCH is expanding its work to document air pollution around Kolwezi’s industrial mining zone. By combining scientific sampling with community-led monitoring, the project aims to reveal the full extent of environmental and health risks from transition mineral extraction. Early findings are strengthening advocacy for stricter government oversight and corporate accountability in supply chains linked to the global clean energy transition—laying the groundwork for policy action and improved living conditions in one of the world’s most critical mining regions.

ProDESC – Strategic Litigation for Climate and Corporate Accountability

ProDESC has redefined corporate accountability from a Global South perspective, using strategic litigation and advocacy to protect Indigenous and community rights. Its landmark case against EDF’s windfarm in Unión Hidalgo led to the project’s cancellation and set a precedent for applying France’s Duty of Vigilance law internationally. Building on this success, ProDESC influenced European due diligence debates, convened a global Climate Justice and Corporate Accountability meeting, and expanded its defense work to urban Indigenous communities in Mexico City. By linking local struggles to global legal and policy frameworks, ProDESC is shaping a new model for transnational corporate accountability.
