Many of the environmental and social challenges facing food and agriculture today stem from a system in which these costs are not fully reflected in corporate and political decision making or market prices.
This report takes stock of the accountability systems, institutions, incentives, and mechanisms that influence environmental and social outcomes across the food and agriculture sector in the U.S. Midwest.
It identifies where the gaps remain, recommends interventions, and explores opportunities for philanthropy and other actors to strengthen the systems that make progress measurable, enforceable, and scalable.
