Accelerating Corporate Capacity-Building for Nature Action
Tuesday, 24 June 2025, 09:00–12:00
The Accountability Accelerator, Business for Nature, and partners are convening nature-related standards and frameworks setters, capacity-building organizations, and leading funders to align and accelerate support for corporate nature action. Building on a series of prior engagements, this event responds to a clear need: companies and their advisors face a fragmented and complex landscape of nature-related guidance, with limited support to act at scale.
The session will advance the development of a coordinated capacity-building framework, co-convened by the Accelerator and key partners, that aligns efforts, fills knowledge gaps, and streamlines guidance – ensuring consistent, high-quality support for businesses to implement nature strategies and reporting, while ensuring more effective, targeted funding to support capacity building.
Session outcomes:
- A clear picture of the current corporate capacity building landscape
- Discussion of a shared vision for an integrated approach:
- A corporate journey map aligning key nature standards and frameworks.
- A shared knowledge hub with consolidated tools and training.
- A coordinated funding model.

Mining for Tomorrow: A Responsible Path for All

The Accountability Accelerator, Porticus, and the Rainforest Foundation Norway invite you to join us for a high-impact workshop during London Climate Action Week focused on practical solutions to shape the future of mining in the energy transition. This session is a continuation of our workshop series bringing together community leaders, advocates, corporate actors, and investors.
As demand for transition minerals grows, so does the risk of repeating past harms—pollution, deforestation, biodiversity loss, displacement and conflicts, and marginalization of Indigenous Peoples and frontline communities. This workshop is not about rehashing challenges. It’s about recognising, reinforcing, and aligning around a benchmark for what good practice looks like, especially for mines that haven’t yet broken ground.
Session outcomes:
- Ground-truthing: first-hand insights from communities, advocates, and industry voices
- Targeted discussions on practical safeguards: existing standards, accountability mechanisms, and no-go zones
- Clear connections between global frameworks and local realities, with a focus on traceability, transparency, and community-led red lines
- A focus on investor levers and downstream company action to drive responsible mining before harm is done
This discussion will help shape a strong accountability framework that links mining’s role in the energy transition with the urgent need for universal ecological and cultural protections.

Putting Nature on the Balance Sheet

The Accountability Accelerator, Capitals Coalition, and Landbanking Group are co-hosting a workshop dedicated to integrating nature into financial accounting. This session will delve into the increasing financial risks stemming from nature’s decline and explore the concept of “putting nature on the balance sheet”.
The workshop aims to clarify this concept, identify the necessary systemic changes required to link natural and financial capital, and illustrate these ideas with real-world examples. A diverse group of participants, including financial institutions, standard setters, accountants, regulators, finance NGOs, and natural capital pioneers, will be present.
The overarching goal is to foster a shared understanding of how to embed nature into financial decision-making and to generate concrete inputs for future roadmaps, with a focus on the COP30 objectives.
The session will commence with a series of presentations that outline the roadmap and key actions needed to achieve the goal of putting nature on the balance sheet. During these presentations, speakers will discuss specific actions relevant to each stakeholder group, providing an overview of the main conceptual frameworks and necessary developments. Following these presentations, breakout sessions will be held among stakeholder groups, allowing for detailed discussions on practical solutions to implement the required actions within the roadmap.
Session outcomes:
- A shared understanding among participants of the steps needed to embed nature into financial accounting and decision-making
- Concrete inputs to ongoing roadmap work, including key enablers and barriers to address in the lead-up to COP30
- New relationships and collaborative opportunities across finance, policy, and nature-focused actors
- Commitments or interest in co-developing or supporting additional proof points and pilot initiatives that value and protect nature
