Find Your Match to Drive Action for a Safe and Just Planet

Thursday, 24 October, 10:30-11:30 COT
Nature Positive Pavilion  (Blue Zone) – Workshop conducted in English

We need collective action to achieve the scale and speed required for system change. This interactive session will help participants understand how their efforts fit into the Earth System boundaries and connect to the transition pathways being developed by the Earth Commission. In multilingual discussion groups, participants will explore enablers for accelerating system shifts and pathways for a Safe and Just Planet. How can this “whole earth system” approach support the Global Biodiversity Framework?

Workshop Objectives:

  • Understand Earth System boundaries and transition pathways.
  • Exchange ideas in small groups (5-6 people) based on geographic or thematic interests, facilitated in native languages when possible.
  • Develop ideas for place-based or theme-based initiatives for deeper exploration by the Global Commons Alliance.

Key Questions:

  • How does this region/theme align with the Earth System boundaries and transition pathways?
  • What are the key success factors?
  • What are the main obstacles to overcome?
  • Who else should be involved to ensure collective success?

Perennial Land

Friday, October 25, 09:00-17:00 COT
Nature Positive Pavilion (Blue Zone)

We are excited to showcase one of our latest grantees, an exhibit titled Perennial Land: The Data Forest. This experiential installation, created by artists Isabel Duverger and Laia Cabrera, who have been collaborating for the past 15 years, presents powerful visual narratives. The immersive video installation invites the audience into a contemplative space, surrounded by dynamic imagery of Earth’s forests, interspersed with climate and nature data, as well as scenes depicting the impact of human actions on the planet. We believe that this fusion of art, nature, and technology can raise awareness and inspire action to combat nature loss. This open experience will be open all day at the Nature Positive Pavillion .

No registration needed.

Action Unlocked: Driving Corporate Change with
Validated Science-Based Targets for Nature

Wednesday 30 October, 12:00-13:00  COT

Nature Positive Pavilion (Blue Zone)

At COP16’s Nature Positive Pavilion, hosted by the Nature Positive Initiative, the Science Based Targets Network (SBTN) will present key corporate insights and the latest results from its year-long target validation pilot. The Accountability Accelerator, as the new host of target validation, will unveil its plans for upcoming target validation services. In 2023, a pioneering group of companies began piloting the first science-based targets for nature, testing the target validation process. With the conclusion of this pilot, SBTN has shown the feasibility of science-based targets for nature, with companies taking ambitious steps to halt and reverse nature loss. Valuable lessons from the pilot led to the adoption of an independent validation model, which will now be managed by the Accountability Accelerator.During this session, SBTN and its pilot companies will share critical insights and outline next steps. The Accountability Accelerator will introduce its collaboration with Deloitte to launch a new Validation Platform, designed to ensure a secure, rigorous submission and validation process. The Accelerator will also discuss its commitment to best practices in governance and assurance, in line with ISEAL standards.Speakers will include representatives from SBTN corporate pilot participants, WWF and the Accelerator’s validation consultants.
