Project summary
This project focuses on the demand for critical minerals needed for the energy transition, especially in regions impacting Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs). It will expose how mining is driving land degradation, pollution, and biodiversity loss and how this expansion of extractive industries is embedded in corruption, political influence, and weak accountability—threatens biodiversity and IPLCs’ rights. This project aims to raise awareness and the importance of IPLCs and their disproportionate exposure to harm, which is leading to both biodiversity loss and the erosion of traditional knowledge.
