Project summary
There is currently a disconnect between the guidance, data and engagement support available to financial institutions trying to act on deforestation. The Deforestation-free Finance Transition (DEFT) Pathway will provide clarity and connectivity between these pieces, anchoring itself on the alignment already achieved by this community around the Accountability Framework Initiative, ensuring that key players from across the landscape are represented in this big tent, and helping simplify how financial institutions can understand and start acting on deforestation.
DEFT Pathway will provide the world’s biggest sustainable finance networks with a scalable and well-supported framework of clear, timebound and practicable expectations for action by the companies they finance – helping to transition them more rapidly towards deforestation-free outcomes. Broadly modeled on the Transition Pathway Initiative, it will link up already existing frameworks, data and guidance on deforestation to help unlock practical action at scale.
