Science Based Targets for Nature South African Corporate Engagement
Project summary
The purpose of this project is to identify and engage large companies in South Africa so that first mover companies can prepare to set Science Based Targets for Nature in 2025.
The process will involve identifying the most advanced companies in South Africa and prioritising them for engagement, as per the engagement strategy sponsored by the SBTN and compiled by the National Business Initiative (NBI), with direction given by the SBTN South African Working Group. This will be followed by a comprehensive materiality screening of the companies’ processes, which will be used to develop a roadmap for their engagement. The roadmap will then be used to develop a training program with the company representatives, to help them bridge gaps and begin preparing to set SBTs for nature later in 2025.
