A new era of collaboration

As one of five original components of the Global Commons Alliance, the Accountability Accelerator is proud to have worked as part of this Alliance for the past four years alongside other entities working to protect and restore our global commons.
In this time, we have grown from a start-up initiative into a funder, thought leader, and ecosystem-builder that in 2024 awarded over $2 million in strategic grants, convened more than 300 stakeholders across 20 counties, and launched the first validation service for science-based targets for nature.
Now, we mark the start of a new era of collaboration with the Global Commons Alliance, which is evolving to become a holistic alliance comprising more diverse actors with the shared mission to safeguard and restore Earth’s life-support systems, equitably, now.
As an independent entity, the Accountability Accelerator becomes one of the Alliance’s new members, where we will continue to play a vital role in driving action to stop and reverse corporate harms to nature through an impactful and just accountability ecosystem.
Natasha Matic, Executive Director of the Accountability Accelerator, said: “We’re delighted to welcome in this new era of collaboration with the Global Commons Alliance. Corporate accountability is the most powerful lever we can pull to halt the destruction of nature and, with fellow members and partners at the Alliance and across the global accountability ecosystem, we look forward to stepping up our collective efforts to build stronger systems, fairer outcomes and a thriving nature-positive economy.”
